Boy am I glad for this thread

. Put the hood back on last night and closed it. Only to find out the cam attached to the pull cable did not line up with the actuator on the hood
. Tried to reach the actuator through the little hole but just could not hit the mark. After several hours I gave up. Went out to day and removed the splash guard and canister like Joel recommended. Has able to just barely reach the actuator and pop the hood. What a relief. Did get the engine timed after that.

Info I've gathered from here has been a life saver. It's great to have access to so many with so much experience who are so willing to share.
Thanks again guys, now off to find another problem for ya.
I did look one more time for those access holes and darned if they didn't somehow magically appear. I know for a fact they weren't there the first three times I looked. I'm thinking Chip had them all along and waited till I had the hood open, then snuck back and reinstalled them. I mean, he KNEW right where they were located on this thing and was even going to send me some pics. Now that sounds pretty fishy to me. (you ain't listening are ya Chip?)

Not to hijack your thread, but I had a similar experience when I was 17. Dad had told me how to get to this fancy restaurant I wanted to take my girl to for Valentine's day. They took reservations and everything (I should have asked for a price range!) Anyway, they had just completed the I-240 bypass around south OKC, and I passed the Western exit 3 times!!! In fact, I took the bypass all the way around the city and came in from the north side, about 25 miles out of the way!
Needless to say, when relating that story to my Dad, he said "Get in the car, boy" and we drove right to it. I told him those road crews did a helluva job getting that in over night and LOOK!, they even planted grass!!!
