The L-88 outfit is an entire assembly; high rise hood, cold air box, cowl induction.  A similar scoop won't do you much good without the air box to route the air to the carb.

If you want functionality, you might want to consider the entire assembly, aftermarket or original.

I debated the same thing. I decided to go with a new hood and get the air box later when needed. Either way you would have to do some fabricating and painting.
Wouldn't a good quality scoop cost close to the price of the hood?
Then if you wanted to make it functional you would still have that option.

Just curious as to what the shipping would be to the UK, have you gotten any prices? What about making a shaker hood? That'd be kinda cool!

We installed an L88 scoop on my '72 way back...it was just the scoop itself, no duct-work. I only had it on for the cool looks...nothing more. A little fiberglassing, a little filler, and presto-change-o..one L88 scoop.

I don't have many pics of the car anymore, but I do have these on my photobucket site...

I'll dig around, and see if I can find any more pics that show the hood a little better. This was a stock hood, the flat one, not an LT1 or big block, so the scoop bonding wasn't too much trouble. Getting the edges smoothed in was a challenge, but it worked out well.
