You loosen it from underneath the car. If there is a lot of corrosion you may have trouble with the caged nut plate breaking loose and just spinning. If it does break loose you will have to climb inside the car and put the carpeting back, spray the bolt and nut with some penetrating oil. Then try to get a pair of vise grips on the nut and have someone assist by trying to loosen the bolt while you have a death grip on the nut.
This was a similar senario with my '81 before paint/bodywork began. Only my #4 right side mount was completely wore away from metal to metal contact over the years.
#4 mounts are known to be the PITA ones to do.
Good luck with you project.

On a coupe you need to crawl in the back and pull the carpet back behind the wheel wells. The nuts are down inside a recessed area. It is very hard to see so bring a flashlight and a mirrow. The nut was held in place be a metal peice riveted to the fiber glass. This was for assembly plant reasons and most do not hold when you try to remove the bolt from below. I ended up cuttin the bolts off and replacing them with new.
