On my 74, they were real sloppy on glueing on the weatherstripping. Keep in mind this glue is 30+ years old.

Any ideas how to remove the excess glue. Its kind of a yellow brown color and really shows up on my white paint: like in the door jambs. I do not want to remove the weatherstripping, just excess glue. . Thanks

Happy Halloween everyone. Don"t eat too much candy!!

Steve, get some 3M "General Purpose Adhesive Remover", and douse some on a rag, and apply to the excess glue. It will eventually soften it enough to wipe it off. It may take several applications, but it will work.
btw..."sloppy" weatherstrip adhesive application was the norm on the assembly line. When judging cars for NCRS, we look for that. If it has been cleaned, or the restorer applied the glue too neatly, it results in a deduction.

Thanks for the info everyone. Interesting that the sloppy glue work is accepatable in restoration. Go figure.
Where can I find this 3M stuff. Home Depot? Thanks again

You can get it at just about any decent parts house...NAPA, Orileys, Pep-girls, etc.
