Hi Guys and Gals,
I have a 78 pace car that I picked up about a year ago and currently have in the garage for restoration.  The previous owner had a "Daytona" (?) style nose put on the car (which I have researched extensively on the internet and have not been able to find out anything about the front end style) and it was a show car prior to my purchase.  The issue I have is this:  The previous owner had the "nose" shimmed up a bit (due to the extremely low clearance.....probably less than 3 inches when level) to keep from dragging/hitting any obstacles.  This, in turn, raised the headlights (it doesn't have the vacuum door bucket-style headlights......they are a pair of headlights mounted in a stationary one-piece bucket with clear/smoke covers).  Anyway, I can see Venus.....but not as much as the roadway as I would like.
What I'm looking for is any suggestions to rectify this situation.  Whether I should attack the problem from the body perspective (that would necessitate a complete removal and realignment of the body/panels......or address the problem in the suspension area.  Personally, I would prefer to keep the current clearance ......so what do y'all think?  Thanks in advance

The "Daytona" style front ends are terrible when it comes to road rash! I put one on a '77 that we couldn't keep the center spoiler part on for more than a couple of days before it got hammered off.
Unfortunately, it really sounds like the only real remedy is to start over with the front end. There may be some way to redo the headlight buckets to allow for some adjustment, too. You might need to take it to a Corvette friendly body shop, and get an opinion from them...

Thanks for the response Joel.  I'm going to look into the bucket idea tomorrow to see if that's a possibility.  Due to the front quarters being shimmed up (thus the rest of the nose)....I'm not relishing the idea of stripping the entire body and realigning...which would be obviously necessary.

For those who haven't seen this style front end here is a pic of one For Sale.

Daytona Front End

I believe Joel is right in attempting to realign the buckets. Another option would be to go to staionary recessed lights. I have seen these in quad form on the Daytona front end and they don't look too bad...
