There is no substitute for low end torque!
Man, it's REALLY looking good, Dean! Things look like they're starting to come together (even though they're apart
). I pick up mine tomorrow. Could have picked it up monday, But weather is crappy. Only good day this week looks like Thursday. Can't wait to finally get it home! Looks BETTER than brand new!

Barry

When looking to buy back in the spring of 2000 it literally came down to a coin toss between "The Toy" and one that was blue. I would have been happy with either one - and have been...!!!
Been there in the project when "BIGBRRD" was getting squirted. Seemed like the end was near at that point but it was really only at the halfway point - maybe. The puttin' it back together phase was painfully slow but more than worth it in the end.
Sure is lookin' good - even tho' it is the "wrong" color...!!!

Hey guys, Thanks for the positive comments. Gordy is going to shoot the clear on the body either today or tomorrow then blast and paint the wheels. Then the fun begins, putting it back together.
He says in about two weeks it should be ready to go.
I feel like a little kid at Christmas.

I'm planning on driving it to the Gathering in May.
Barry, Glad to hear yours is done.
I'm sure it looks great!!

We had snow here in Wisconsin yesterday, so I guess it is just as well that it is still in the shop.

Wow, is that what mine is supposed to look like? Looks great , however I am partial because I have a Targa Blue 72 coupe (454 4 speed) However it was painted by a previous owner who obviously didn't know what masking tape was! The trim tag and wire harnesses in the door jambs are all Targa Blue! It needs some minor body repairs and new paint but for now I'm fixing all the mechanicals. Can anyone provide some estimates on what a good (not necessarily show quality) paint job runs? Dont know if I'll have it on the road in time for your gathering this spring
. Maybe in time for Carlisle!

Hi Mario---Thank you for the reply. An estimate on a good quality paint job depends on many things. How far do you want to go with it? How much of the prep can you do yourself?
If you need some minor body work, your fender seams prolly need repairing. Sooo, you strip it down to bare fiberglass, and expose the bonding seams and glass them in. That takes a lot of time.
In my case all fender seams had to be fixed as well as the seam across the back above the tail lights. We also had to rerivit and rebond the header bar between the head light buckets and the hood. Because of fender damage and a cheap job of repairing in the first year of this cars life, we decided to replace the left front fender.
If you go with a two stage (base coat clear coat) paint and have a quality shop that has someone who is experienced with Corvettes, you can be North of 10K verry quickly. As I said earlier, anything you can do yourself can reduce that.
Barry (Jaws79) and rod7515 have just painted their cars and may have more insight.
A 72 BB 4speed Targa Blue Coupe sounds OUTSTANDING to me!
Good luck with your decision!
