Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.
I am getting closer to the end of the tunnel and I am seeing just a crack of light so there is still hope for this year. This is about my 1980.  Should I keep the stock look bumpers (front and rear) or should I go Daytona style.

I am finishing up a frame-off and there are some good mods to it, engine and suspension, and sound plus exhaust. So it's not a museum piece. I like the look of the Daytona but is it too much???

This

plus this

equals this but a different color scheme. No strakes on side either.

The "Daytona" front end will be hard to keep in one piece. They have a tendency to find every bump in the road, and shatter. BTDT.
I'm with Mike...stay with the stock look. I do like the hood on the blue car, tho.
Just an opinion. It's your car...

oh...and watch out for that "light at the end of the tunnel"...it usually turns out to be a TRAIN! Adams' Apple2007-03-09 22:00:04

It is your car. If you like it, then do it.

Me personally...It's a little to much for my liking. It reminds me of the movie "Corvette Summer." As for the hood in the pic, I agree with Joel, I do like the hood also.

My '81 has the stock style bumpers and hood now. But this year I'm adding an L-88 style hood. Some people will like it, some won't. And I really don't care, because it's my car.

I put the stock style fiberglass front end on mine, but I liked the spoiler look for the back, so went with a different style.   Like others have said, its your car and do what you like.  Me, I wanted something a little different, but not too radical.

If you want to make a good showing and you like the look, go for it.  If you are trying to drive it around and in and out of various driveway approaches it could damage it very quickly.  Just something to consider.

Ken said exactly what I was thinking. Lots of drive entrances are too rough or uneven to allow low profile front ends to clear without scraping. Also would be an extra headache IF you would ever have to have it hauled or God Forbid, towed. Just my two cents......

I'm really not a big fan of different bumpers, or ground effects like that on Corvette, I would say stay with the original look Thumbs%20Up
