I was thinking of getting some L-48 emplems for the hood of my 1976 Stinray. Is that a good thing? Also there are decals out there or is the actual emblem better if I were to go with it?

Not sure I would want anyone to know my car was just an L48 even if it was still stock. No car ever came from the plant with them on but if you like it the emblems are the way to go.
Be proud of what you have.

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Mine is an L-48 also. I thought about those emblems too and decided not to put them on.
If my Corvette was an L-82 I probably would have gotten them right away.
One cool thing I have seen are the custom emblems there on the hood. Especially when the owner has a built up motor and the emblem hints at that.

I also have an L48 but never considered putting on the emblems.  Mainly because they were not original.   It really comes down to a personal preference.  Go with your instincts!! Like Brian says be proud of what you have!!Smile

Ouch... where is the LOVE? The Blacray sports the L48 emblems. They were there when I received the car and I left them on after it was painted. I kinda like the idea that somebody believes that underpowered heart still exhists inside there... he.. he.. he...

There were never any L48 emblems on any car from the factory...L82s, yes, L48? Nope
There are aftermarket emblems, and they are emblems, not decals. Some folks like the little extra "bling" on the hoods, some don't. If you like it, go fer it!
Most people that see them don't know what the heck they mean, anyway, except for us Corvette freaks. You'd be surprised at how many goobs think the L82 is "That really rare, 500hp big block"...

The L48/L82 Emblems don't make the car go any faster but thet sure look neat on the hood. It depens on what you want. ( I learned something tonight,I didn't know L48 emblems were not stock. My car had them when I brought it.)

Thanks a bunch! I most likely won't be putting L-48 emblems on my Corvette. If it was not a stock item I don't think it would be good. It may look cleaner without them. Thanks!

Thought about the L-48 emblems myself and I DO Like the way the chrome on them shines. It's just that I never did by them to put on. Now you guys have got me thinking about it again. I LOVE my L-48 :O)
