Hey everybody,
I've been thinking of getting a new hood for my '77 for a while now. I always liked the stinger look, but recently I changed my mind because I'm starting to like the L88 design hood much more. I was playing around on photoshop and put the hood on my vette. Let me know what you think. Its not perfect, but it gives a good idea of what it would like like. Also, I read that there is a short design and a long design for this hood... what's the difference. Click the link to see the pic, and tell me what you think. I wouldn't be able to get until summer though.

I gotta agree, man. To me. the hood and the wheel fins are what make a corvette a corvette. The L-88 hood will get some heads turning I think! Good luck.

Thanks for your thoughts. And thank you Woody for clearing up the short vs long style for me. I like it more and more everytime I see it.

I bought an L88 hood for my '69. I will need the hood clearance for the fuel injection unit. Anyhow, I bought it from a Corvette Restoration shop and last week they painted and mounted it. It is a short style hood from a '70 and since that style was used on a number of sequential years I thought there would be no problem. The long and short of it is this: they spent hours trying to fit the new hood. They even had to change the mounts ( latches ) on the passanger side from '69 to '70 parts. Every bump I hit, the drivers side pops open.
I took the car back on Monday, they need to do more fitting.
To give credit where credit is due, they did a remarkable job matching my paint ( Monza Red ) and it does look GREAT on the car.
Good luck with your decision.

So, Glenn, when do we get to see a picture of your beauty with the new hood. It's gotta look sweet! Well, sweeter than she already does, anyway!

Actually it is still in the shop getting the hood fitted and the headlamp bezels fitted. They told me the hood latches and the body mounts for the hood are different between the '69 and '70 cars. Right now they have '69 mountings on the drivers side and '70 mountings on the passenger side. I have to admit to some confusion here. All the suppliers sell an L88 hood but none seem to specify a year, all fit '68-'72. If one size fits all, why is there such a problem fitting the hood with the existing '69 hardware?
