i am going to have my 78 vette repainted and looking for the right red color
now i know it is actually impossible to get from a picture the right color.
i have found a few pics on the internet of a red color that's getting close to my idea of what is the right red... but now i have the problem to find the colorcode of it
but can anyone say from the pic if these colors are kinda close to what was the original corvette redcolor in that year (77) or another clue like a similar red with a colorcode
i saw these pics on a site about 2002 Free State Corvette Club Annual Boardwalk Parade, Ocean City, MD

I do beieve you are looking for the INFAMOUS CANDY APPLE RED,its a very dark and glossy red,it has always been a very popular color here in the states, and my favorite. If I ever painted my 78 a different color,it would probably be that but with the dark red interior thats in it ,I think it would be too much,oh well,I am not sure what the color code is ,but I am sure you could get it from DuPont, good luck

thankz.... now i have atleast a start where to look for.. and the paintshop here uses dupont
my interior is black and the car was originally also red.. but 5 times repainted in the meantime.. been getting all those layers off.. a hell of a job it was :)
my other option is the pacecar78 color

If you're looking for the right red, don't lock yourself into GM colors. We did a car a few years ago and found a BMW red. Go to your paint store or body shop and look at some charts, the paint chips don't tell it all, but with some begging and sweet talk, you could get them to make a small sample you could shoot on a sample panel.
If you're interested, I'll see if I still have the paint # around here somewhere.
