The mirror itself isn't loose.  The housing for the glass is a little loose at the point it attaches to the base.  Very secure to the car surprisingly enough.  Any easy or quick fix tips?

Thanks

Dave,
My '79 has the same problem.
After taking off the interior door panel, I think you need one of those flexible screw drivers to go way up through the base and then tighten the sport mirror down to it.
I also remember hearing here at C3VR that those little plastic swords that come with a drink can be wedged in between the sport mirror and post with good results.
I have'nt fixed mine yet but I thought I'd pass this on.

Thanks, I've gotta pull the door panel off anyway. Maybe I can get the mirror off easily.

As I recall to tighten the mirror housing to the base, the whole assembly has to come off the door to get
to the fitting to tighten the housing to the base.

It is really is not that hard to do, just a little time consuming since the door panel has to come off,
including all the parts that entails, then taking off the mirror assembly off the door.

But what else do you have to do? LOL

My car came with a new floppy repop door mirror. Anything over 25 MPH and it lays down like an old dog. Called the shop that sold it to the PO. Their response? Take it off, soak it overnight in paint thinner, pry the glass off, pinch the the metal that surrounds the pivot ball, glue the mirror back on. Apparently there is no screw to tighten up inside the base on these. I have not tried this yet. Also, there is a set screw that holds the base to a bracket that mounts to the door. That I found. So it should come off without getting inside the door.....of course all this pertains to a repop.

How about a "dab" of JBWeld on the bottom edge after you set it where you want it.
