Hi All,
Does anyone have any advice on what I can use for under hood insulation on a LT1 hood? Chevy didn't make one for the early LT1 hoods. Any help would be very helpful!

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,  Welcome to C3VR! I used Dynamat Hoodliner for my '78. It has pre-applied adhesive to stick to a "clean" surface, but I also re-used the factory retaining pins to help hold it. If you don't have the pins, I suggest that you use contact cement (such as 3M #77 spray adhesive) on the underhood surface. Be sure to protect other areas from overspray.

Can I ask why you want hood insulation..is your hood warping? Or just want to attempt to control where the heat goes? Also your proile pic of that awesome car has a non LT1 hood..did you change it since that pic was taken? Just trying to get all the info so you get the best answers!!

Since that picture I put in a new engine (kept my numbers matching engine) and it has a higher intake and my old, hood, won't fit anymore. Therefore I'm getting a LT1 hood. Also just trying to control heat.

I know exactly what you're looking for and I have it on my LT-1 hood but I will have to go through a tons of receipts to see where I got it. I'll see if I can find it.

Finally found it Jason. It was ordered from Corvette Central on 9/22/2002 and believe it or not, the price has only gone up $4. I checked their website and the part number is still the same. Part #463076. My receipt says 'years 1976-1979 but it fits my LT-1 hood perfectly. Now I'm not saying that the guy who restored the car didn't have to make some alterations because I don't know, but I do know that I'm happy with the way it looks and I'm not the easiest person in the world to please. The hood insulation retainer pins part numbers are 463078 and 463077. Total cost of parts in 2002 was $55.50
