Vette(s): 1982 corvette crossfire production numer C5101985. Color is silver and claret. All original numbers match. slight mods to crossfire for better efficiancy and power balanced and added fuel pressure assembly between throttle bodies,
So I picked up a set of glass mirrored t-tops for under 300.00, they need new seals and have some scratches on the top side of the tops. anyone have a clue how I would polish out the glass to remove some of the scratching? i know that if i can put my fingernail in the scratch then it needs refinished, but what about light scratching?
also when I re-place the seals is their any seal that is better than another?
Thanks
Marcus

Marcos, Zaino (www.zainobros.com) makes a good glass polish check out their site and read what it does. I have used it myself and like it.

While we were at Mid America for the gathering they gave a seminar on weatherstriping there is a new style material offered that is stiffer and outlast the OEM material. If you are not looking to judge the car and do not mind it not being NOSOEM then I'd try it.
Hope that helped..........

so would i find the weather stripping at mid america parts? i am not looking to get the car judged too much is not original for it to be that kind of show car.
but I am in the market for weather stripping, Tops, passanger door, front pillar sills. I looked at the rest of the seals on my car after I posted about the mirrored t-tops
Thanks,

I have tried glass polishing kits, and they do not even touch scuffs on T-tops. They are too hard tempered glass. I have not found a polish for tempered glass.
If you need all that weatherstrip, I would buy the whole kit. You get a better package price. We carry a complete kit for $330.00.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I agree with Larry on both issues and that is a good
price. I purchased the t-top weatherstripping separately and will not purchase the rest until after I paint the car.
I would add that you may want to take your tops to a windshield repair place (the guys that repair dings and cracks). They may be able to make the scratch a lot less noticeable. Just a thought. If you do that take some before and after pictures then let us know how it turned out.

Do you have a shop manual for your 82? The manual for my 81 tells me how to adjust the tops.

no i havent picked up a shop manuel for the vette yet. looks like I need to though. ive got them partially adjusted without the seals on them, the drivers side front needs to come forward about 1/4 inch to line up with the windshield....
