Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.
I'm finally ready to paint the frame in the engine compartment while the engine is out getting built, my question is, semi flat black or semi gloss? Also is the dist. supposed to be black or bare cast iron? I know I need a copy of the NCRS manual, but I haven't had a chance to get one yet.
Thanks,
Matt

You can ask 5 people that question and get 5 different answers. I'd recommend the judging manual if you are going for that much accuracy. Dr. Rebuild has a passage in his catalog about GM using several different vendors for paint, each one had a diiferent shade of semi gloss black.
I used a polyurethane on mine, it's much more durable and it can be mixed to give the sheen you want.

Hi,
I used POR15 Chassis Black on my frame. It dries to a semi gloss and is very durable if properly applied.
Just my 2 cents..
