Guys and Gals,

What do you think of my new hood design?

It's not on yet, so be honest.

Don't worry about the cross hatching. That won't be there.

Hey,  I love the flag but not the Eagle.  Not that I dont love our proud natn'l bird  but it doesnt work with the Red car.   Just my two cents.   The flag would be sweet though.

Vette(s): 1972 elkhart green T-Top, New paint, one previous owner, 370hp/350, hookers/flowMasters. Original PW,PS,PB,AC. All docs.
Be PROUD! I like it, but I'd have a fade off the hood on all three sides, like
an airbrush fade, and maybe the white stripes and stars wrapping around
both sides (fading at the bottom of the car) to tie it in and leave the
viewer (from the side) curious so they look up on the hood. I'm still
thinking over my under hood art (always pop the hood at shows anyway).
Be sure to post pics when done. Good Luck!

Very impressive.  Blending it into the surrounding paint would be awsome.

i agree with the others- fade off the fenders would look really great.
i have one more suggestion- why not take the eagles wingtips to the outer edge of the hood/fender like near the base of the windshield in a more symmetrical pose? that would look really eye catching.

your idea reminded me of a special paint job i saw on an aircraft that was a special drawing for the aircraft owners and pilots association. this photo does not do it justice. it gives you a good idea how an american flag looks airbrushed. on a vehicle- the flag uses alot of blue in the shading of the white areas to give it depth. i think i have a closeup photo of it somewhere in my pile of snapshots. this design has the french flag and the american flag draped over both sides of the aircraft representing the joint venture of the companies who built it.

id really love to see what you come up with!

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of custom graphics or murals or whatever you want to call them on Vettes!  But we all need to make our cars our own, so more power to you.  I would have to agree with the others though...if you're going to do it you need to fade the graphic into the surrounding paint, and wrap the quarters.

I'm also guessing that when you decided to do this you were doing only the hood so that it would be easier to switch out and bring it back to stock?

Lose the bird.

Maybe do sometime like the paint is shredding off revealing the flag under the red paint.
