Vette(s): 1972 coupe/350 cid/mild cam/4 spd/20 ft. paint (looks perfect from 20 ft.), but it sure runs nice.
Question for anyone that's purchased an aftermarket hood from Eckler's or its competitors. Is this a drop-in/bolt-on item or is there measuring and drilling involved? Also, is the existing latch system used on this new hood?

I may be in...provided you're not considering Vanacor.There still trying to screw me over with more shipping costs after me & a freind sent back two crappy hoods we paid in advance for,about a year ago.I hear Ecklers uses ACI's products.

Vette(s): 1977 L-82 originally white/buckskin interior. Currently undergoing a frame-off resto. and modifications.YEEHAW!!!
I purchased the 1967 stinger-style hood from Ecklers about a uear ago, and yes, as far as I know, it is an ACI product.

The fit was nothing short of dead on, all the bolt holes are allready fitted with fasteners, and all you need to do is transfer all your latching, and hinge hardware, and you're there.

BTW, if there's anyone interested in purchasing my old hood,(1977 L-82) still in black lacquer, great shape,
let me know. I'm not going to be able to ship this bad boy, but if anyone is relatively near by, or wish to meet halfway, I'll agree to that.

Well,thats encouraging news about ACI.I was looking at their site awhile back,& I think if I can afford a hood like I'd like,why go thru a middleman,just buy directly from them.Where does MAMotorworks,Corvette America,etc. get their product from? |headscratch|

I recently ordered an L88 hood from Ecklers. I still have to paint it, but I put it on just to see how it fit. After a little more adjustment, it will actually fit better than my stock hood which raised up on one side. No drilling required, just unbolted one and bolted up the L88.

I know it depends on how excellent a paint job you want,but how much should you expect to pay to match a hood to your exixting paint if the aftermarket hood you get seems to fit fine? Otherwise,you'd have to add the fitting costs.

I bought a couple body panels from ACI directly. No problems with shipping or product. I agree, why deal with a middleman. I found that the prices between them (ACI) and Ecklers or Mid America Motorworks is just about the same. These places are also supplied by ACI.

Are they on the pic you have here? I'm mostly interested in a taller hood because with just a Weiand manifold under my Holley,& with a dropped base air cleaner,its touching the insulation enough to have scratched the chrome until I wised up & put a rag over it now.But I was also considering the "ground effects" fiberglass rocker panels,etc. too |idea|
