[QUOTE=LarryT]I took my car in for painting right after Thanksgiving -- 2009! Yes, they have had my car for 13 months. They told me it would take about 12 weeks and that was 55 weeks ago. I'm now just hoping to get it back before the spring of 2011.

If mine takes that long I would die! Is it a regular Corvette body shop? I don't know, they'd have to have a REALLY good reason for that! Hope it works out, man!

Well, you guys do have it right; it is helium for Donald Duck and Nitrogen is great in aircraft tires that get cooled down to minus 30 degrees C during high altitude flight. Water would freeze and then the tire would be out of balance on landing. The nitrous is for whipped cream!

We sanded, repaired damage, primed, sealed, painted, wet sanded and polished my car in 4 days!! 55 plus weeks sounds like a conversation with the BBB !!

Alan, he said the spider webs were caused by a repaint over old paint without proper prep. So it WAS repainted! He is sanding down to the primer and starting over. He feels the soda blasting and chemical strppers do too much other damage, and if you don't get it all off it affects the new paint.

Barry, I was told the same thing when mine was done. He sanded mine down to the primer as well, not a total strip because he said the old pirmer would be a great base. I used a stripper on the headlight bezels because it was easier then sanding them but had to wash and rinse them down when I was done. As for the soda blasting it has to be washed off as well. I am going to use it on my interior console and radio bezel because it wont hurt the chrome trip, however it is a slow process I think. Keep us updated on your car. Pics when you can! Took me a long time to figure that one out.

For the 55 week job, it was sanded down to the fiberglass. All the seams were finished out, new base applied, etc. But for it to take 55 weeks you can image there was a lot of time when nothing was happening. Ever since the threat, things have picked up nicely and the car it finally going back together.
I sure hope so, Larry! You must have the patience of a Saint to wait that long! I sure hope it turns out perfect after all of that hassle! Good luck, man! Rod, I know what you mean. I need to figure out this picture thing!
