Dont want to take it out of the nicely padded box but looks ok with date code markings etc.  Will take pictures after install.  Since I managed to break the old glass trying to remove it, any tips for the install?   Already got urethane sealer and will look for 3M ribbon seal tomorrow (NAPA?).   It seems like you just sqeeze on the urethane and lay in the windshield.  Do I put the trim pieces back on while the urethane is "wet" for a press fit or do I let it dry and then replace moldings etc?   A friend broke his by overtightening the trim after install so I will watch that.  Do you push the windshield in or just set it there and let it dry?  I wasnt able to find much detail about this in my books.

Thanks for any suggestions

Neil

Timing couldn't be better. I just came from a tech session at a local glass replacement service store that our local Corvette club arranged.

There are 4 steps that absolutely must be followed.
1. Don't touch the glass with your bare hands on the edges that will contact the urethane seal. The oils from your hands may prevent it from adhering.
2. There is a special cleaner and primer that must be used on the glass and the metal that will contact the urethane. It must be compatible with the brand of urethane you use.
3. Placing the window in the frame is a two person job and you should use the suction cup handles. There should be an alignment mark on the glass on the lower center edge.
4. Don't over torque the clamps.

If this is not done correctly, the integrity of the glass and possibily your life will be compromised if you Vette is in a crash.

Make sure it is done right.

I believe that the primer is called

"Silane Primer"

It is wiped on with a swab, before the window is installed.

I'm far from a pro, but my two cents worth, in additiona to what was said above, I always were palytex gloves to keep it clean and free from oil. Also, once the windshield, he did mention it is a two person job!!!!, is in place, I'll put duct tape on the top and sides to hold it in place. Let that sit at least over night before trying to put the trim back on....

Good luck!

Glad to see that they fixed you up with the proper windshield.
