I'm guessing it's an aftermarket panel. For many years the fiberglass body panels were supplied to Chevrolet by Molded FiberGlass of Ashtabula, Ohio (maybe still today...don't know the answer to that). It's possible that Molded FiberGlass may be a division or subsidiary of North American Rockwell, but even in that case, the panel would likely still be marked MFG.

My '72 coupe has that same "Rockwell" decal on the right inner fenderwell. I have gone over my car many times to find all evidence of ANY previous body work. Except for one MINOR strike on the driver's front corner, ALL panels and joints are "unmolested." Still researching the "Rockwell" question for my own car. Have found nothing conclusive yet.

Another possibility...occasionally GM would acquire secondary sources for parts as a backup in case of an interruption, such as a strike. Carter carburetors made Quadrajets as a secondary source. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Rockwell may have been a secondary source of body panels for Corvettes (or a primary source of replacement panels). They were a high tech company and such manufacturing was within their areas of expertise.
Hello, if you look on page 147 of the Vette Vue's fact book (68-72),you'll see a picture of this sticker on a spare tire panel.I have an original 1972 LT-1 roadster, that's an original Arizona ,unhit car,40,000 true miles, which i bought from the original owner, and it has several of these stickers on various body panels. In doing some research of other low mileage ,unhit body cars, i've found that many of them have these stickers on them, and not always in the same places. The only correct assumption,is that Rockwell was at least a vendor of some, if not all Corvette body panels of this era.
