Just got my '73 and want to put a Nose cover/Bra on, but not sure which, if any is best. Want to try to keep the bugs/chips off the new paint job... if possible. Any suggestions appreciated

I agree. I put one on my '74 when I drove it to the NCM for display in '99. Absolutely ruined the paint underneath. It looked like someone had sanded on it.
I think I would have been better off with a few chips. Had to have the complete car painted again.
The car was clean and waxed before putting the bra on, so I'm positive there was no "gunk" underneath. Just the wind flappin' the thing causes it to abrade the paint. NEVER AGAIN for me!! I have one on my '85, but it covers up the already damaged paint on it,so it's not a big deal on that one. Beware!!!

Only way I would put a bra on my car would be if I were driving cross country and I would take it off the moment
I arrived...
That said ..(I did use one on my 79 for a short period of time)...TO HIDE the damage after someone backed into the car and cracked the hell out of the front bumper...until I could get that damage repaired...
BUT I have always believed that using a Bra would screw up the paint in the long run... My 95 is Black...(the Composite Material (not Fiberglass) is actually white in color so after 10 years the front end has a bizillion little "white" spots caused by rocks etc... The COST to
remobve the hood, strip it and repaint it is UNDER 500 bucks (quoted 400 a few years ago) .. for that amount of money I stopped worring about those chips...when it gets bad enough to notice from 10 fott away I'll spring for the repaint job...
Just my opinion... anti-bra opinion for sure !

Thanks for the replies.. I guess the majority rules.. I'll save the $100 bucks .. put it away for the time I might need to touch up... I had a '69 back in '69 and this is my second Vette..35 years later...

I run a Bra on my Street Rod but I just put it on when I'm on the road. I use that 3M green masking tape under the edge of it so when it flaps in the wind it don't hurt the paint. That stuff works really well as it comes off even when it gets hot, no residue left behind and rain don't bother it. Once I get to where I'm going I take the Bra off and wash it in the carwash and hang it in the Motel room to dry. put it back on when I leave. I have no clear coat on the car so it scratches real easy. With that tape I haven't had any problems and the wind does blow in Wyoming.

If it's not painted, Chrome it!!!
