I personally don't like Sherwim Williams. ( I know I spelled that wrong) Perhaps that's just my preference. They all spray a bit differently, and have varying properties.
DuPont, PPG, Ditzlers, are all good paints.
I prefer Glasurit, but you can't go wrong with PPG. Its easy to find and reasonably priced. The reason I like Glasurit is they have an epoxy primer that is sandable (puke green color).

I prefer Glasurit ...

Ditto.
My findings are that Glasurit is a tad more expensive then others, but is a much better paint.
My C3 is all Glasurit (epoxy primer, [tintable] sealer, base coat (and tint coat where used) and clearcoat). I got some add-ons for my C5 and used Glasurit on them also.
Edit: I've also used Dupont and put them second on my list after Glasurit.
Has anyone tried the duplicolor from advance auto, I don't know who makes it for them. They only have a few colors but the have one I like.
In the spray bombs? I've used it on parts and non-vette projects. It's just another spray bomb. What do you plan on painting with it?
Thanks for all the replys, the shop I'm looking at prefers Standox. Feels the paint provides better coverage then Dupont. Thanks again...I'll get a couple more estimates then get it done!!
Red will cost you plenty!
You can still get the lacquer if you prefer. While there is no longer lead in the lacquer to give it elasticity, some really good restoration shops can mix up an exact match on most colors. Contact Hibernia Auto Restoration in New Jersey if you wnat the lacquer.
I prefer lacquer because I can do touch up work and detail work on my own. The overspray is also easier to remove. If you are doing a body off paint job overspray will not be an issue.
In talking with the guys that restore rare packards, Bentleys and such are still using lacquer that is the way I will go when the time comes in May.
Plus that is what the car came with and I prefer originality whenever possible or practical.
Have fun and send pics!
