Not too much change since the last pics Brian. The body shop that's going to help me do the body work got really busy, of course with the weather. For now she's on hold. It will give me a chance to send out the tee's to have the molding redone, and the bumpers re-chromed. I'll tell ya one thing. Getting the door handles off is a b--ch. I'll send pics soon as we get started again. Terry

Sorry you haven't heard update. I'm pretty frustrated. The body shop that is going to help me with the body work got busy and have no time for me. I was warned about this. I think I'm going to look into different options. Spring will be here before you know it. Cry Terry

I can't believe its been over a month since I posted. I've been busy and the body shop that I'm working with did too. I finally went to them and said , look you need to start working on my car like its a job instead of a project! So now we have been laying down the Duraglass and I've blocked the whole car with 240. After the damage is repaired I still plan on prime and block at least two more times. At least we're up and runnin again. Don't look like she'll be done by spring, but she better be by early summer or the with-drawls will bout kill me. Pics coming soon. Terry

I feel your pain, Terry...
Let's just hope that the final result will be worth the extra headaches.

Terry, the extra time to prime and block will be time and money well spent. After I thought I was done at home and brought the car to my body and paint guy I ended up doing with three more primer and blocking rounds on the car. I am glad I did though. The final paint is smooth and clean. Everything you don't do will show up on the surface so a bit more work early will be less growling when you are waxing it in the sun. ;o)

Terry you may need to pay them daily visits to keep them motivated. The guyz that did mine have done lotsa stuff for me over the years. But,,, when the did Tux I was there every day. People who brought other stuff in thought I worked there cause I was there so much. It helped ta keep the fellas werkin there motivated.

Shucks I took the out some snacks a couple of times to smooth over some of the crap the had to repair. They also let me put on the aftermarket stuff bumpers, spoiler, ground effects, etc. The owners son helped with the bumpers cause I had them off & on so much tryin to fit them to where they were good enough to mold in.

Stay after them an you'll be crusin around this spring yet!!!

No laughing here. It's a process of layering sandable primer on the prepped surface of your car. Once the fiber glass work is done and a sealer applied and all your fine sanding is complete. You are ready to begin the process of building layers of primer to the fiber glass. This must be done to give the body and finally the paint that smooth as glass finish or look. Primer is what sticks to the body work. And inturn what the paint sticks to. Each layer of primer must be "block sanded" It literally means you use a soft flat block and a series of grits of sand paper to bring the surface to a smooth finish so that when the paint is sprayed the surface looks flat and smooth and doesn't have humps or dips in it. The primer is also used to fill in all those small scratches left in the surface when doing the body work. I had four layers of primer and for times block sanding the entire car. Once the block sanding is done you use an extra fine paper to finish sand the last layer of primer. Once that is done you wash the car off and blow all the dust off and then use "Tack" Rags to wipe the whole car down. This gets any dirt or dust left behind. Then you are ready to mask and paint the car. All in all it's a lot of hand work but, must be done to get a show room finish. There is more to it than this once the paint is sprayed but, that's enough for now.
