As I was browsing on this site I saw ''Viper Red'' car that is winning the c3 of the month, I forgot his name,It looks real close to the color I want. Is anyone knoledgable on these two paints? I want to get it right as I'm sure you guys know. Thanks for your comments!!

You must be referring to the last winner of the "On-Line C3 Vette show". That was Todd's car. Sadly, Todd has passed...
Someone may know the info on the paint color, tho, perhaps one of the members from the Great NorthWest Chapter.

Todd Passed Away?? I must have been in la-la land when he went. Sorry to hear that.

Both of those reds are very bright, and I looked at both of them. They are both quite pricey. At the Cleveland Auto show I saw a VERY bright red camaro. I asked what it was, and then found it was a bit cheaper then the other two, and it's a Chevy color. Torch Red. Early 90s it was an option on the vettes, and is what mine is now. Check out the sig picture.
Just an FYI on Torch Red - I had a new Z28 in Torch,,, The paint lost its pop really fast. Talking to paint guys, its not a favorite of theres to use. Ok, this was on a daily driver parked outside. I think you might need a pro-painters opin..
Sorry about Todd.
Thanks, I've already bought "porsch red" and your all right its pricy! Have you heard about polyester
coating under the primer, it is suposed to greatly reduce the cracking of the paint, I dont know but thats what my body man has talked me in to using!
Almost all paint is photochemical reactive. Simply stated, it will fade in the sunlight. There are only a very few, very expensive paints that won't fade. The fade is often unnoticed due to the slow decay. Bright colors are more noticable then others, so are very high gloss.
Simply driving also wears paint. Yes, wears. The friction and abrasion from the road creates a rough surface and minor scratches, making any surface look duller. Again more noticable on bright colors and high gloss.
You are correct. A good undercoat helps. The paint remains slightly flexable, and that prevents much of the scratching and abrasion. In addition a good wax will help a great deal. Several waxes help block UV light, slowing the process. Listen to your body man. He is on track.
