I am stripping paint from a 1972 convertible. I am using liquid paint stripper from Midamerica motors. Going by the instructions on the can. Here is my question. As I move around the car, I notice some areas seem to have a spackle like substance that I assume was used as a filler. I can scrape it away with my plastic puddy knife until I reach the fiberglass gel coat. In some areas, it appears it was used to cover fiberglass fibers showing through the gel coat. So here is my question. Is it necessary to keep scraping this old filler off until you reach the gel coat. Thanks, David
