I am having my 1980 repainted, does anyone know if the rear window mouldings were all painted black? Also how about the rocker panel, is there supposed to be any crome showing?
All the pictures show black moulding around the window and black rocker mouldings with a line of crome showing, is this correct?
My car is black in and out.

Hi Mike, and welcome to the C3VR!
'80-'82 front + rear window moulding was black (matte finish).
The rocker moulding i'm not sure.
Corvette America shows '78-'79 as black with a chrome stripe along the top edge.
'81-'82 is all solid black.
No picture, but a listing for '80 only.
Does the chrome stripe run through near the top edge?
I'm sure someone out there has a definite answer on that question for you.
Good luck!

Mike,
I have an 80 L82 very original. Black trim around windows, black rocker moulding with a 1/4 inch chrome trim on top edge. PO repainted about 5 yrs ago. However, this matches the 80 sales brochure I have exactly.

Mike,
I've always felt that black paint over chrome was like painting over fine woodwork. It just shouldn't be done.
I have an '80 L48 4 speed and I took a very fine steel wool pad and removed all the black, trim and rocker panels.
If you want something absolutey original, by all means, leave it be. But I like the chrome look much better. I'm new here so I'll have to figure out how to post pics.

Vette(s): 1979 Coupe THE DIVA color: BLACK
YES!! ALL the trim pieces should be BLACK.
Years ago I decided I didn't like the Black on mine and very painstakingly removed it.
My Hubby is trying to convince me to change it back. once ''Rosie'' is painted he says it will look better black..I have to order NEW trim pieces anyways. I am still undecided.
I am from the ''old'' school..I LIKE CHROME!!!!!!!
