Dennis,I feel better after hearing your reply about the stripper. Here's another one: if I get down into the fibreglass, will epoxy primer seal that glass or do I need to do the gel coat deal?

The stripper is fine if you go about it in small areas at a time, I am talking a one and a half inch brush, rubber gloves a mask and then work a strip about 3" wide and 6" long. Brush a medium coate on the surface. Let it set for about a min. then use a flat blad puddy knife and smoothly scrape the lifted material away. You can actually do this in layers. One layer at a time. That is exactly what I did. I never got down into the gel coat. Once I saw the original primer I stopped and moved on. Once all the paint was gone I lightly sanded the entire car, did my filling where needed and then shot the entire car with the Epoxy Primer/Sealer. My car was the 40 vette that my painter did. For the past 6 years he has switched to doing the Epoxy Primer/Sealer even if he first does gel coat work. It is not only a sealer but, a protectant to the fiber glass. He says it gives a better base to work from for the primer that goes on after the Epoxy. I'm not trying to get you to go with the stripper or not, just saying what I did and how it worked for me. I am NOT an Expert. That is what the other guy gets paid for I just repeat what I was told and what I did. Good Luck with which ever way you go Mike. fedexbicman762007-03-02 12:57:51

Good choice Mike. I think you will be much happier with this once you are all done. I love this place too.
