I'm guessing I'm not the only one who figured this out, but I decided it was worth sharing. Whoever owned my Vette before me had it repainted, but left the vents on the rear deck and the trim at the windshield base bare (I'm glad since I think the brightwork looks better). Up until this weekend I hadn't looked close enough to notice that the vents are aluminum...30 minutes of polishing and they shine like crazy. It's a great look that is different from most of the early C3's out there.

As you may know, you can also polish the telescoping wheel lock ring the same way...looks almost like polished chrome...

Wow, Thanks to both of you!!

I really wanted to do that, but wasn't sure that it was made out of anything worth polishing.

Mine currently has chrome vents. Looks good also! They were on the car when I purchased it. Couldn't believe how expensive they were when I saw them in a catalog. Nice thing about the ones you have is you can always paint them and go back original.

Just got my car back from being painted and had my vents painted. If I had read about this before I may have tried polishing them. Sounds like that would go really well on my new black paint. Laguna, do you have any pics you can post of the vents.
