hey guys

scrappy here i have one headlight that keeps popping up when i turn the car off.
now ive rebuilt both actuators, and replaced the vacuum actuator relays with new units from wilcox corvette parts. they actuators are only about 1 1/2 months old. the headlight worked great for the month and a half till last week when the passenger headlight started popping up when i turned the car off. no vacuum leaks anywhere.

thnx
J

J, did you replace the vacuum lines as well? If not you may have a culprit there...

Good luck

i didn't but the previous owner had. i checked them anyways and found nothing. i called wilcox corvette since the relays were new and they said that its VERY uncommon for relays to go bad and there isn't a warranty anyways

You may need to replace the check-valve. It should be in the vac. line that comes directly off of the engine/intake manifold. If it is not working properly, it can cause this. It looks like a small pie-pan, with two nipples on one side, and one on the other.
I can send you some vac. troubleshooting info...
A new relay doesn't mean it will work. It could have a small internal leak, and since there is a spring inside of them to move the relay valve to the "open" position with no vacuum, there's a chance that the relay is bad. No warranty on the relays?!?!? Thumbs Down

Make sure the vacuum llines are actually and completly on..I had a loose one I chased for some time before I found it under the dash!  It was wrapped around the brake pedal..everytime I woud stop the headlights went up..I thought it was a source issue untill I found those little manual valves that opened the wiper door and headlights.. I would not be happy about the warranty issue,,give em a second chance and see what happens..hopefully the right thing is done..

ok now if your ready to laugh continue reading. so here we go=
vacuum lines -check
actuators      -check
vac. relays    -check
check valve   -check
Crap, that leaves the dreaded electrical demons i fear most!
ok, I'll try later. closed hood but somethings not quite right. hoods not latching and looks out of adjustment. hmm never noticed that before?
OK........
finally get hood opened again to find... VACUMM HOSE TO HEADLIGHTS PINCHED UNDER HOOD LATCH!
I checked that very line for vacuum leaks..now i dont know whether to laugh or cry.
LOL.

thanks for the help guys
without your help i'd end up paying local vette mechanic a 100 bucks to laugh at me.

thnx
JClown

PS. yea headlights work like a charm

J,
dont feel bad I chased a no start issue for a week before I figured out that when I put my interior back in i connected a seat belt connection that was never hooked up before. I even bought a new cable for the battery! Glad your issue is cured.
