Hey Folks!

Got a couple antenna-related questions...all answers & advice will be greatly appreciated!

Question #1) Can anyone tell me if a Power Antenna was a standard option on the '82 model (non-CE)?

My '82 does NOT have a Power Antenna currently and I'm contemplating installing one.  So...
Question #2)  Am I asking for headaches by moving to a Power Antenna (i.e. should I)?

If I do decide to install one...
Question #3) What advice, problems I should look out for, etc. do you have for me?

Thanks for everything!

From the Black Book for '82's.

Question #1- Power Antennas were optional.   U75 - 15,557 made - $60usd.

Do you have a Build Sheet?  Will show you what your vette has it or not.

Question #2- I would just leave the Antenna where it's at.   If you move it you have to drill another hole and cover the original hole up.   My voice is waste of time and effort.   Just rememer it's your vette no one elses.  Wink

Question #3- I think a mechanic will answer this.   JOEL or others will help out.

Good Luck.  Smile

Thanks for the info, Iron...

I doubt I'll make any changes.  I like her just like she is!

If it did not come with the power ant. originally, then to install one( a factory style) would involve some wiring changes, as well as a couple of extra components, such as the relay, and of course, the antenna.
There are aftermarket power ants that go in fairly easily, without the need for the relay. They only need the signal lead from the radio to operate(and a 12v power source & ground), so your radio would need to be power ant friendly...not all are.
So, the question is simply whether or not ya really want one, what type does ya want...factory, or aftermarket, and does your current stereo support the electrics needed? Adams' Apple2008-05-07 19:39:02

If you go with the optional C3 power antenna, it's a bolt in and mounts in the same stock location as the mast antenna.  Check the AIM for 82, but I'm betting the wiring is already part of the stock rear harness.  You will need the relay and the harness from the relay to the back of the stock stereo.  Again, check the AIM; that harness might already be there too.
