Alright, not to beat around the bush or anything, but this is my first actual post (testing my signiture in the new member intro forum doesn't count) even though i've been a member of this site for almost a year and I would really like to say that it has been very helpful with many problems that I have run into. So I'd like to say thanks for that to all the people posting messages to help people like me out.
Anyway, I seem to have gotten myself into this really frustrating delima. After replacing every last piece of weatherstripping on my vette a while back, I still had problems with keeping wind and water out of my car due to the poor window alignment. So i try to fix this several times which turned out to be a success on the passenger side but the driver's side window still has this nice problem where the back end of the glass likes to hit the edge of the t-top when i go to close it, thus i have to be very careful because i don't want to have to buy a new window. I gave up on trying to fix it for a while and just dealt with it. However, due to a very nice and much needed set of new door panels that I got for Christmas, I decided to try it again. To make an already long story somewhat shorter, I have tried for hours to fix it with no success. So if anyone has some experience in this sort of thing. Please tell me what to do. Thanks.

While the panel is off you will find several adjustments. There are adjustment to control window tilt, top position stop, bottom position stop, and tilt. It's really not that difficult, but does take some trial and error. Move the adjustment one at a time and see what change you make. Move it back if you don't like it, or move it the other way. I know that may not be a lot of help, but it's really not that bad. It's been a while from my last one. Several years have gone by, but I used to do a lot of them. After I realine my doors, I will need to do my windows, then I can say for sure, but that won't happen until it get warmer outside.
I hope that helps.

Hey. Thanks for the advice. I've done a good bit of messing around with those adjustments it just doesn't really seem to want to go in the right place. I'm beggining to think that it may actually be a slight problem with the alignment of my t-tops, but i'm not too sure (I got the car in pretty slopy shape and there's lots of things missing and horribly put together so i don't really know what is aligned and what isn't because it was actually a repo and well that's pretty much self-explanitory). Either way, i'm going to keep trying at it until it works. Thanks again. - Adam Smith

I read somewhere on these forums that it is best to do the adjustments in a specific order, what it is I don't know because I just ignore the cold air blowing in from where the back of the glass is almost 3/4" from the back weatherstripping. I remember that the instructions for adjustment can supposedly be found in Chiltons or Haynes(or maybe only one of them?) Anyway, might help get the adjustment done faster than just trial and error!

Chilton's is the clearest source ... and, yes, there is a sequence to the adjustments.
Happy New Year, y'all!

There is a procedure, it's been so darn long from my last one, I don't remember what it is. I do know if the window is way off, going through all adjustments may get you close, and then you may need to do them again to fine tune, and get it just right.

I just pulled the windows out to paint and found that if the rollers that are bolted to window are not tight, any adjustment that you do will be in vain. The rollers are the ones that ride in the tracks. You will have to remove the glass to get at them.
