The frames are identical, from 1969 to 1979 with the exception of automatic transmission frames and manual transmission frames.
The manual frames have a welded crossmember where the automatic frames have bolted in crossmember. If you put a manual trans in a auto frame, you will have to weld a bracket to support the Z-bar for the clutch linkage, or use a hydraulic clutch release.
The Big Block frames are no different than the small block frames other than the half shalfs are thicker on big block frames.

That is not exactly true. The frames are different for 75-79 because of the bumper mounting. The only ones that were identical were the 69-72 frames. The 68 had the same geometry, but did not have the gusset on the corners where the rails merged with the rear crossmember. Hence a 68 frame is not as rigid as a 69...
Also, if you are going to use a big block motor on a frame that was setup at the factory with a small block. You will need to change the front springs. Someone correct me if i wrong, but i believe a big block spring will have an RF code on the green tag. Unless it has fallen off.
