I am painting my 1968 corvette. Having a hard time with what paint color I want.
The original color being Rally Red.
How does this compare with the 1993 to 2004 Torch Red. Looks similar.
Does anyone in Corvette land have either color and their opinion..
Thanks

Paint color is purely a matter of personal taste, so you should choose the one you like best. If it were my '68, and it was pretty original, I would probably stick with the correct color.

I think the later "Torch Red" color is a little brighter, and the "Rally Red" is a darker red. Not much, but if you have two cars with the colors next to each other, it is quite obvious.
The '84 "Bright Red" is a darker shade than the '85 "Bright Red", too..same name, but the colors are definitely different.
I agree wid Larry...if you're trying to keep it looking original, go with the original color. If you're not ever going the "Judging" route, then go with what looks good to you....it's YOUR car.

I agree with Larry. Paint is a largely personal choice. I personally would stick with an original color if the car was mostly original, but again a peronal choice. Pick what you like.

Torch Red.
But that's just me.
Like Henry Ford said, any color you want, as long as it's red.

Actually Torch Red was a little lighter red than the Rally Red. I thought about the 2003 Anniversary Red but it was too maroon, Crystal red is a three part paint, more expensive and really nice. But for a 1968 Convt. it would be just too much. Like you said it is up to the owner. I just wanted some opinions, and thanks very much. Wife said red is red.
I choose Torch Red after having my painter put 10 different reds on poster boards, set them up in my living room, and for about 2 weeks instead of watching TV my wife and I stared at reds.
I love the way it turned out. Choosing color is the fun part. Like the guy's said, if your not concerned about original, have some fun with it.
