that is going away way from firms like DuPont, custom colour.

not being rude but would you be able to use high end paints?

Rude...no chance of that with me.  I'm looking for the most forgiving paint I can find.  So it will be base coat clear coat.  I figure I can sand and sand till I get it as good as whatever makes me happy or until I get sick of sanding.  Like I've said in the past, I'm looking for a 30/30 paint job.  Good from 30 ft or 30 mph  (10 meters and 50 kph).

If you need to buy two quarts you should just buy gallon it is almost the same price believe it of not. Our local advanced auto parts sells RUSTOLEUM in gallons. I am not busting your berries either. Google rustolleum paint for automobile and you will be surprised. My friend has a body shop that does a lot of classic cars and everybody wants top of the line paint until they get the price. Then it is use cheap paint until they get the price. Then it is don't paint it. Since 911 all the laws changed on chemicals causing the paint to sky rocket. Ridiculous. Another bit of terrorist info if nobody knows. The jug of 134a for a/c systems just went from $85.00 a jug to $275.00 a jug now that it is on the terrorist list of possible chemical use. We just priced out a gallon of PPG paint and a gallon of PPG clear. Our cost $2200.00. How do you justify that. I know you are trying to do the job the least expensive way but when it comes to paint there is not such a thing. I wish you the best of luck. If I had extra white paint I would deliver it you myself.

Hell, what paint do you have!!Wink

Not even looking for the cheapest because, as you've said, there is no such thing as cheap.  I'm just looking for decent.  This car is going to have lots of mileage put on it.  After my daughter heads to college I'm hitting the road and traveling everywhere, hoping to do the national park circuit.

Anywho...I have seen the folks that use  rustoleum and they do seem to be decent paint jobs.  I have been able to get quotes locally for about half and on the internet for about 25% of the first quote.

I did use a long block as best I could and was surprised how much of the body I could do with it.

I checked out the site right after you posted it.  That's why the sticker shock hit me so hard.  I don't see anyone getting close to their prices.

hi,i would give that suppliers a try.

what conditions are you spraying in? if anything other then a booth take care.

if your in your garage, poly sheet every walls damp floor.if you have a cple of fans, place them so they pull air out. suck rather then blow across the car.you'll embed dust/bugs by blowing from behind car. if you do get bugs leave them alone ,till dry.then pick off.little legs don't show as much as a swat mess.

look at hardeners spec,or phone and ask if they contain polyisocyanates.

iso.will wreck your lungs, with out proper air fed mask.

my advise is don't use it .go for the single stage kit.
