I moved the car tonight...
it across town in a friends "auto museum" warehouse..
theres alot more room to work there..
the car is lot easier to pull up on a trailer without the rear valence panel installed..
I have the body dolly ready..
Ive triple checked all the connections.. it is free of obstructions.. I was going to use straps to lift it but the ceilings are too high..
I guess im gonna use the half a dozen rednecks and a 30 pack method.. 30 pack gets opened AFTER the body is off.
what is the safest way to lift it manually ??
where it is now.. i can roll the frame out the bay door and roll the body dolly under it.. just want to make sure we dont tear anything apart lifting the body.

Ben, I've never tried this, but I think it would work. Get (2) heavy duty tie down straps long enough to make a return loop from one side of the body to the other, then thread a 1-1/2" x 10'pipe through the loops on each side and lift. The straps would be under the body but above the frame. You might need to jack the body up a bit to clear the straps. Plenty of room for 4 or 5 burly rednecks on each side.
Do most of the lifting between the wheel wells. The fenders will not take much stress. You could use a couple of your lighter duty friends there to stabilize if needed, but the rockers are the best "pick points"
Good Luck!

how heavy is the body... I can lift the corners pretty easily.. the interior is gutted except for dash and convert top/frame.. and the doors are still on..
just wondering if Im gonna need linebackers for this.
tommorrow night is the plan.. im just going to have everyone pick up on the rocker seam.. or I was thinking about taking a pair of 2x6x10s and sliding them in between body and frame.. then just lifting the 2x6's
friday night im going to pick up my "new" old frame. its about 7 hours each way.. anyone in baton rouge ??
staying the night, scouring junk yards all day, coming back saturday night.

The 2X6's under the rockers sounds like a good idea. Gutted, the body really doesn't weigh that much, I would think 4 able bodies can handle it without hernias.
Good luck on your journey! If while scouring junk yards you find the little bracket for the proportioning valve,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
