Decided to go with the tru-flex (fiberglass) version.  Had a second thoughts as soon as I hit the purchase button but headed down this path now.  Justed started to install today and already come across a couple of issues:

1)  Top of the cover has a pock mark (dimple) that has two pin holes that go all the way through the part.  Is there anything special about repairing one of these?

2)  The cover hits the honeycomb really hard and does not allow me to get the bottom of the cover to attach to the body.  Do I need to trim or remove thie honeycomb in order to install?  Can the bumper be move backwards any?

3) I was thinking of attaching the lights using the round brackets that are attached to the original urethane cover but the instructions suggest differently.  It do not think there will be enough support attaching directly to the cover.  Eventually, after changing the bulb or removing the lens a couple of times the fiberglass will be worthless and not hold the screws.  Anyone with experiece on installing on a 82 model?

Shawnee2..
Did you get your rear bumper cover installed yet?
I have a '75 coupe and just doing my rear cover now.
I purchased the Ecklers Flexi-Fit f/g cover.
I also decided to use the factory tailite retaining rings vs screwing directly into the f/g.
Do you have honeycomb panels in the rear of the car? That is maybe a bit different than my '75?  I did have to 'trim' some of the rear bumper structure to make it fit properly.
I was going to start a blog here with pictures showing my installation process.

I replaced both front and rear bumpers with Truflex bumpers and anything that  supported the orginal urethane bumpers had to come off. I have a 77 vette and replaced the rear with a 82 bumper. Needless to say there was work involved getting it to line up!

CC.....nice work on your '77...looks great.
I have finished the rear bumper cover install on my '75.....now I just have to pull it off and send it to my painter. I used some of the original brackets/supports but others are now in the spares box. I photo-documented the install on a Canadian vette site but I could post some pics here if people are interested.   It was a fun job.

My Trueflex rear bumper was a @$^*!! to line up!! DaveM was around to help for a bit and watched me nearly grow wrenches through my windshield!! It was jaunt a real tough job and the bumper was actually off by a 1/4 ". We did some body work to fix the alignment rather than ship this monster half way back across the country...

Nothings easy with fiberglass cars...

I am also installing a replacement bumper on my 1978 c3. And was wondering, does anyone use the original 4 brackets that are shaped to the bumper lines. I watched a few videos and it doesnt appear that they do? I ordered the aftermarket bolt kit with the T-shaped bolts. On a different note, i took the 2 main shock absorber brackets that hold the bumpers metal, and had them shortened by several inches, thus making the bumper support fit inside the new fiberglass skin. I see some say they take all that out, but i looked at the fiberglass, and the gas tank that sits directly in front of it..... and pictured some young kid in their phone not paying attention, doing 50mph,when im out for a slow sunday drive. Aside from shortening the main brackets, i also had to cut on some edges of the support for a snug fit into the cover. Needless to say its been a work in progress, but its on the car now with the 4 bolts on each side to that support. Now im to ready to put those 18 or so bolts in before i glass it. Hence the question of the bars. Again, off subject, but my front bumper is the original urethene ,or whatever it is. The prior owner filled the seam with bondo, and you all know how that lasted. But i too, wamt no seam. I sanded amd chipped all his old off and am attempting my own, basically fiberglass skin over it. Its difficult to get much to stick so i have been drilling holes in problem areas, and it is a slow, patience testing process.
