Hi all--

I've been trying to locate a source for the exterior metal trim which
surrounds the rear window glass on our '78. None of the catalogs I've
searched through seem to have this (multi-piece) item, although I have
found a couple of sources for used versions on the Internet ($175 plus
shipping for one I found, FYI).

Problem is, I don't know if they're going to be in any better shape than
the original I'm looking to replace. Online photos (which I haven't come
across yet) might not reveal small dings and so forth, like ours already
has. It isn't in terrible shape, but it's also not in perfect condition either--
and it's one of those very visible trim pieces, which is why I'd like to
replace it with a better one, ideally NOS if I can find it.

So any insight into locating this apparently hard-to-find trim would be
very helpful. I'll be happy to buy used, if it's in decent shape...

I've seen them on eBay atleast three times and I believe atleast one set was new.  Be careful though, make sure they are packaged securly or you will end up with some nice bends in them

black. GM just painted over the crome stuff. A friends yellow 78 also has
black trim around both front and back windows, like my silver. If your is in
good shape except for some scratches, maybe just a repaint will do.

Just an idea, I have no idea what shape your trim current trim is in..

We just repainted the wifes car, and I had to do the labor( not the painting )and hers was chrome. 1978 two tone. but my 1981 is black trim. aceinthehole4938851.894537037

actually, the '78's have half silver/half flat black trim all around the rear window and the '79's like mine have the all black trim.

Its true, my trim is half and half, black and crome around the back window.  The windshield trim is all black.  Maybe this was a change during the production year?  Really don't know other than what I have on Andy (our 78).  You may have to look it up with NCRS to find out what the real story is hear.
