...HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT FINANCING THE CAR AND PAYING FOR THE PAINT OVER TIME? JUST A THOUGHT.
Yes, I have thought about that. But then that turns a $7000 job into a $9000 job.
...DOES YOUR CAR STILL SHINE ? MAYBE YOU SHOULD CONSIDER LEAVING IT ALONE! JUST DRIVE THE THING. NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL ONE IS , IF HE TAKES IT OUT ON THE ROAD, IT`S AT RISK FOR DAMAGE. GOOD LUCK
It does not still shine.  That is why I want to repaint it.It is really dull and faded on the top surfaces and blotchy.   The sides are shiny but full of stone chips. It used to be garaged off a dirt road.Of course, no matter what the cost of the job, I'd still have to come up with the money. And of course, I don't have $3500, let alone $7000!
So are you serious about having your car painted? I am really curious as to what a good deal in having your car painted is in your area.

I had $2500.00 in mine when I had it painted seveal years ago. I got a break from the guy because he has painted several things for me. He has since stopped painting vettes. Insurance money is easier and quicker.

He still paints stuff for me though. Tuxblacray2008-05-06 12:06:06

I'm serious. I've been serious for years. I was getting very close to having the money a few years ago, but then I got laid off from Pep Boys and everything went down hill from there.  I still don't have the money. Cry
So when I do, I'll paint it.

Now that was funny rite thar n I don't care who you are..

Seriously Adam make a few calls and see what an good affordable paint job is in your neck of the woods. You might be presently surprised.

Heck I read the other day a fellow talking about his going to the Chevrolet delarship and having paintwork done fairly cheap. He was talking about aftermarket supplies but the price he quoted was very reasonable.
With those kind of range of of prices, you could almost buy another vette with a good  paint job and sell your old vette.  Something to think about?
Also Would give you chance to make a change if you wanted...,
for example if you wanted to get a vert or go from auto to 4 speed.
ADAM, THIS IS AN OPTION. IS THIS SOMETHING YOUR CONSIDERING. DO YOU JUST WANT TO FRESHEN IT UP TO POSSIBLY SELL. OR ARE YOU REALLY WANTING IT TO LOOK GOOD FOR YOURSELF? DEFINING YOUR INTENTIONS MAY HELP YOU TO DECIDE ON WHAT TYPE OF PAINT JOB YOUR AFTER  AND HOW MUCH TO SPEND.

Adam, I dont think you're to far from me. Call Gino's on RT27 in Kingston NJ (Just north of Princeton). They are quite reasonable and do very nice work. When my 81 got damaged they did a nice job and they were the lowest estimate. Another joint I saw work from was Andys Autobody in Trenton. I saw a yellow GSX clone they did for 3500.00 and it was very nice  Again, I saw nice reasonably priced work from them too. If you want to take a ride up the GSP to about exit 140, I'm friendly with John Briton who is nice and reasonable. Kevin.

Vette(s): 71 Colonnade Hardtop Coupe Torch Red with black interior originally L48 built to push around 360hp

On my paint job. I removed all the parts, did the sanding & blocking. The rest was done by some good people I do business with. A LOT of body work was done, plus we replaced the windshield, which took a lot of repair to the frame. Bottom line was 6500.00. I am very happy with the work that was done. So in my opinion, 7000.00 would have to be a very good job from a reputable painter.

Hey, whatca think guy's? Take up a collection for Adam's paint job fund.................??
