7-8k ugh! Don't feel too bad I'm in the same boat. I'm probaly gonna have to spend a lot a lot of money fixing all the previous body work that was done on mine. I've talked to a guy and he had no problem doing mine on the side. Kinda of shady, no actual gurantee but I seen his work so I'm cool with it. Now I just need the moolah.

I was quoted $10k to paint the roadster by two local shops that REALLY know what they are doing, and are comfortable with Vettes. I could go to Macco and get it painted for $2500, but then have to have it repainted in a few years. The $10K paint will last a lifetime.

Folks I am in Granbury Tx. Had mine stripped down and re gel coated then primered blocked and painted. Paint color is Cabernage (SP) you can see yourself and read anything on your shirt if anything to read from a half a block. I paid thru the nose Pait was 750.00 gal. and total job was 12,000.00. Just depends on how good of a paint job you want on your car. Two weeks later wrecked it. See post 76 front clip. 3 different reds make this color 8 coats of clear lots of buffing and poloshing. But man if you look at it just right and the sun hits it I think it might blind you. I know I will never get the return I initally was seeking but this car is a once in a lifetime deal for my wife and I and we are happy with it so we now have a front clip coming from PA. and will have it painted estimated 4,000 estimated 8,000 to complete repair and we will be once again happy. This time we will haul it lol. Complete restoration was done frame off. New or rebuilt matching #S motor bored 30 over 202 164 valves 488 280 290 duration cam Flat top pistons Forged steel crank. Orig. 4bll. all parts on motor except fuel pump and air cond. are orig. All insides orig. Redone or Dyed. Leather seats on orig seat. Wish i could put a pic on here but just don't know enough lol. Anyone else with this color on there Vette. Stingray. Now the front clip will not be orig. But what the hey. Sorry for rammbling on.
$7000 is a real good price. I would ask to see some of the work they have done on other cars. Unless you are going to sell your car, I would not go with a cheap paint job that will have problems. I figure you won't find a show quality paint job on a Vette for less than $9000 most places.

I was just quoted $4000 today for stripping and blocking then 3 to 4K for the paint depending on the final paint scheme
The previous owner of my Pace had a complete repaint of the car, sanded to fiberglass back in March 2000 for $2950.00 and that included a two-tone paint job and replacing all decals
Pretty good price even at 8 years ago.

Adam:
I can tell you, it is a ton of work to get it done right. I just finished painting my FIRD and it took me months to sand, fill, prime, sand, fill, prime, base then clearcoat all because most shops down here don't want to touch custom paint jobs for under $5,000.00. Midway through the job a buddy of mine got his 75 vert sanded, body work, primed, painted, sanded and buffed for $3,500.00 and it looks great - go figure!
My luck was not as fortunate as his, but I can tell you, I have a new found respect for what those guys have to do to get it right. I will start reassembling it, sanding and buffing hopefully later today. I have been in it since Mid December, long story, won't bother you with the details, but it is a lot of work!
It all boils down to are you thinking of selling or keeping and make your decision from there!
