Replacing Rear T-Top Plate

Vette(s): 1979 coupe
The plate behind the drivers side on my 79 is mangled and i want to replace it. If i remove the 2 screws the inside plate will drop inside. how can i get behind it and replace the whole unit front and back?

Take the interior halo panel off. You'll see the backing plate right there.
