I know you can buy the rivet tools from any number of places. Can you also but a tool that will allow installation of the rivets without pnuematic tools or hammer?
Similar type tool to the mechanical pop rivet tool only for the aluminum rivets the factory used.
What have other folks used?
Thank you,
Bill

I haven't figured that one out yet either, I'm assuming he's talking about the big head rivets we see on the cars. A "pop" rivet is a substitute, but the smash or crush type rivets are what the factory used.

Yep! I am asking about the the crush type rivets common on our C3s.
I was hoping that somebody made a long handle type compressing device that will cause enough pressure to crush the rivet correctly.
Ideally I would like a tool that will allow me to interchange the the tool to accommodate the different rivet sizes including length.
Thank you for the input!

Kent-Moore makes all the rivit tool used for repair at the dealer level for our C3s. One of them is a couple of feet long to rivet the large 1/4" rivits that hold in the window regulators.
Be careful with this part too!!! There are two types of rivets....the correct "soft" ones and the other crappy hard ones that do not work. I have bought both before learning the difference. You should be able to fit the soft ones as originally done easily. I bought the air tool die for my gun ( 10 bucks), and they go in like butter, just like the General did 32 years ago. I have not tried this, but I would think that a large bolt with the end dished out will accomplish the same thing. Just that you will need two people, or some way to back up the other side of the rivet for the ones in impossible places to get to. Get the long ones and cut with side cutters to length.
