I am in the process of replacing the side window weatherstipping in my 75 coupe. The A-pillars are done and I am starting on the vertical strips that seal the rear edge of the side windows. Mine appear to be riveted near the bottom. Does this seem right. I thought there would be screws like in the A-pillar strips. Any suggestions?

Nope.....they're riveted!!(only at the bottom, if I 'member right) I think they're a 3/16" 'luminum rivet. Be carefull putting one back in there. The fiberglass will split if you use too much pressure to expand the rivet. That's why they used the 'luminum.

Do I just drill the head off and punch the grip area through? Will the piece left in the jamb be rolling around? Is it a 3/16 grip or diameter?

Yeah, Scott, jest drill er out. If you take your quarter panel trim off(or just loose), you'll see that the rivet goes thru the 'glass to the inside. It won't fall into anything but the floor!
I'm pretty sure its a 3/16" shank diameter. It may be smaller, but it's been a day or two since I've seen mine.....let me go have a look-see........
Well, crap!! The rivet is sunk too far down in the rubber to get a good idea of the size. Just peel the rubber back on yours, and you'll be able to see it.

or, if you've got an assy. manual, it will give the rivit sizes. Adams' Apple38824.8387037037

Yep; use a drill; don't do like I did and pull them out with a pair of pliers.  Personnaly, I didn't put one back; just 3M weatherstip adhesive and it's still holding.

Thus far I have not taken any pictures. The T-tops and A-pillars are pretty self explanatory. The A-pillar weatherstrips slide into a metal retainer that are fastened to the windshield frame with screws. As with any weatherstripping I never apply any adhesive until I have everything adjusted. Also once the strip is in it's metal retainer or in the case of the T-tops, plastic tabs, I let them rest in place for at least 24 hours before applying any adhesive. After the wait period I apply the 3M adhesive using a syringe with long plastic nozzle. Otherwise you just get a big mess. I will send you a PM once I get started back on the rear strips.
