I have been cleaning up my frame in anticipation of my eastwood primer getting here..

one thing I have noticed..

the factory welders were damn sloppy..

I have been using an angle grinder (one of my very favorite tools) to grind off all the burrs and droplets on the frame and there are plenty.. I would be ashamed to turn out work like that.. I understand that they had to work quick.. I also understand that they never expected anyone to see this work.. but it is still too sloppy.

maybe the guy who welded my frame had a hangover..

Mine's pretty much the same way, weld spatter all over it. Made cleaning the frame a real pain.

Don't feel bad. I think the same dude was still the welder years later on my '81. |laugh|

Vette(s): 1977 L-82 originally white/buckskin interior. Currently undergoing a frame-off resto. and modifications.YEEHAW!!!
After my frame was blasted, the passenger's side rail had clean welds on it, and the driver's side looked like the old dude was training an apprentice.

Or, it was welded by one man, passenger's side on Friday, driver's side on dayshift Monday, while hung over.

It's amazing some of these welds held over the years.
