Has anyone seen an after market offering for the inside reinforcement on the sport mirrors (78-82). I thought "Mid America" offered them but what they refer to as an "install kit" looks like a gasket and 2 nuts and I've got those. I only had a drivers side chrome style so I'm steppin' up to the sport type duals.

if their is anything special for the mounting of the sport mirrors it would have to be part of the door itself. when I removed mine it was remove 2 nuts not easy to get to, then remove the mirror and gasket. here is a diagram.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Ages ago (back in high school), I installed similar sport mirrors on my '76 Grand Prix. I don't recall doing anything other than just bolting them in. Of couse, those doors weren't made of fiberglass...
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. It's going to be a long term project ( funding is shy) but they're going on one way or another. I may end up with Vette in primer, .....kinda ghostly huh ?

I added a mirror to the passenger side of my 75 and it came with 2 rubber inserts that you have to drill a couple holes to put them in and when you tighten the screws the the rubber compresses and makes a strong support to mount the mirror. Zapparex

I added one to my '69 Coupe. It ALWAYS comes loose when I adjust it so I've never actually used it in traffic. I don't really trust that attachment system. Maybe I'm not tightening it enough.
