I was thinking of putting 78 style sport mirrors on my 75 instead of getting the chrome ones. You can find GM sport mirrors on ebay, but I'm worried about the angle where it attaches to the door. I seem to remember that some were the same, but the spacer had a different angle. Does anyone know how to tell what I should look for? I don't want to get something that droops off the door.

If this doesn't work, I'm going with the chrome ones. Any comments on those? Thanks!

I entertained the idea of sport mirrors also when I was getting mine painted. I wound up going with the chrome original style. They were easier to obtain and I didn't have to have them painted. The chrome mirrors stick out and the body colored mirrors would have blended in. One thing about it though, you can always go back later and add the sport mirrors if you don't like the chrome ones.

Yeah, I'm kinda going in that direction too. The sport mirrors are pretty hard to find.

While I think the sport mirrors look great, they don't give you the view to the rear the chrome mirrors do. My '78 has the sport mirrors and my '69 has the chrome so I experience the difference. The sport mirrors are closer to the body and don't have the adjustments the chrome ones do.

Just my opinion and something for you to consider.

I have the sports one on my 74 and I have no use for it (put on by previous owner).  They are simply cosmetic, I can't see with them; too close to the body. And if I had my choice, I would put a right side mirror on the driver side too (the "objects are closer than they appear" one); this way, it could at least expand the angle of view a little bit.

I already bought the chrome one's. While doing the weatherstripping this weekend, I was going to replace them, but couldn't figure out a way to get to the two bolts without removing the window.

I also noticed that the supporting plate of the chrome one's is much smaller and I couldn't see if the original holes where there and how I would mask/cover the wholes of the sports mirror.

My 2 cents : stay with chrome.  And if not, with the sports you have the option to add an interior adjuster, but you will have to cut (or drill a hole) on your door panel. Mine doesn't work that well, it got loose somewhere and with the road vibration, it constantly needs adjustment (again, making the mirror useless; it is not time to adjust them when you actually need them).

I just wish the previous owner had never did that!

Thanks, I have decided to stay with the chrome and get two new ones - one for the drivers door and one for the passanger door. Now that I've been looking at this feature, I have to say I like the chrome ones better.
