Not sure where to ask for information but would like to know where to get illustrated manuel that would show how to remove body mainly front clip. I don't have a clue as to where or how to find one. Thanks in advance and also thanks for putting this in the correct forum it belongs in I figured this was the one being Body related question. Thanks any and everyone that can give me some advice. ccross95@sbcglobal.net

Go to ebay and search for 1976 corvette manual and you will find an assembly manual posted there. It will give you all the wiring diagrams torque specs and illustratilons showing how the car is built. Here is a link to one. I see you are a trial member. My advice would be to pay the 15 dollars to be a full member...it will be the best money you spend on your vette.

All the Corvette aftermarket providers carry the assembly instruction manuals (AIMs), but these are not How-To references.  To my knowledge, there is no step-by-step How-To for front clip removal.  You might check the back issues of the Corvette magazines since all of them have done an article on clip removal at one point or another.  The various Corvette restoration books might also show it along with removing the body from the frame.  The Glas-Ra fiberglass repair books cover front clips.  http://www.glas-ra.com/v3_4.html

The more importation question is why you have to remove the front clip.  If it's otherwise in reasonable shape, leave it there.  Ditto for the body:  if you don't have to remove it, don't.  Noland Adams has a body lift book, checklist, and video.  It covers C2s, but it applicable to C3s.

I agree with 6880Mike.  It is almost impossible to remove the front clip without cracking something.  Even if you are removing the body from the frame, leave the whole body intact.

There are strap kits for lifting the body off, if you decide to do that.

fella"s thanks alot i appreciate your help. I wrecked mine. That is the reason for the front clip. Easier and cheaper than an aftermarket. I broke both fenders, driver side light assembly destroyed, Broke body in several places and some of it missing left on scene i guess. I already have a good front clip easier i guess. My restoration guy and I (mainly him) decided that the way it was broken it would most likely end up showing thru if it was patched. About all the front clips, braces and such look ok on mine but have not gotten it to where the front part is not overlapping the hood. Hood just got a ding in it and can be repaired pretty quickly. Front bumer ruined, fenders are buckled some it looks like as the hood does not match contour of body or vise versa lol. Anyway this is what he says we needed to do if we could find one that was in good shape. This one was and had been well kept. All that should be needed is old one removed new one installed and the paint stuff. I paid 12K for the paint job on it. I know but man did it ever look good. DANG lol. Cabernet

If you need another guy for lifting the whole body off like in the video, I'd be glad to come to Granbury to help.  I'm eventually going to do one and would like to see how its done before I tackle doing it myself.

pdupler thanks very much and if you would like to see it come off I can let your know when it is going to happen. The front clip they are using came in yesterday and being uncrated today. They are going to get a plan together with me about taking messed up one off my car very soon. The guy Vintage Works is doing this for me as i have no way to do it myself. But I am sure he would not mind you seeing it being done. I am sure you would have to be with me though. He does not want folks in his shop much. I am hunting books and manuels cause i don't think the has them yet He does not do alot of vetts, but did a fine job on mine the first time. Slow but they all are. I aske if there was a way for him to have it ready for our local 4th July parade and he said he could if I was willing to pay the overtime it took to make sure it would be ready. Not sure I am that willing lol. Send me a PM and i will let you know when it is being done. He has overhead crane and lift straps so I am sure he can lift it off without a problem I would like to see it being done also. Charlie.
