Topic: Stripping Paint
in Forum: C3 Body
I just had my 73 blasted with soda, I ended up with a surface that will need quite a bit of filler. It was a little pricey a little less than $1,000, but I had up to 4 coats of paint on it in some areas. I think it was worth it, especially since the car is in my parents garage and they wouldnt have apreciated fumes from a chemical stripper, and the dust from filler is already starting to bug my mom.
If you go with blasting you just have to have someone who is experienced with fiberglass, because you can damage the actuall body.

The guy I'm looking into said he uses plastic beads. He says its a lot less messy? I do have a concern about soda mess. My interior is all done and so is my motor. I really don't want to take her apart again. Looks like I did things backwards maybe?
What you saying Matt makes sense. I imagine blasting will not only take off paint but can but can leave valleys in the fiberglass if your not careful. The guy I'm thinking about is a professional. I would like to stay away from chemicals . You may not agree with me Chips, but I'm thinking about painting her red. Terry
Red is cool. It makes 'em go faster. Black just looks good even standing still.
