I'm going to do a final pre-purchase inspection on a '76 C3 this evening. It is project car for sure but seems to be really solid. It has been an Arizona resident since it was purchased new. It doesn't appear that it has ever been hit but it does need paint and some major interior restoration. Can someone tell me where the Body/trim tag is located? I looked the car over last week and couldn't seem to be able to find one. Tonight it goes on a hoist for the final "Yay or Nay". Also while it is in the air is there any thing C3 specific I should be looking for? I'm so glad I found you guys. It appears this site could be my life line through my C3 resto. Thanks guys.

You should find the TRIM TAG located on the driver side, front of the door area, riveted to the hinge pillar.
If the car has been painted in the past, the tag may have been painted over, making it harder to see. If the tag is missing all together, it could be a sign of major body damage, and a reason to investigate further before purchasing.

ROBERT, suggest while you have it in the air is you look at the frame itself and where the body mounts bolt into the frame. Look for rust and any damage. I know you said AZ is where the car is from but still look for rust. Also check the rear diff carrier around the side yokes (output shafts) see if you see bare steel. Sometimes the clips inside come off. Rear seals around tranny and engine and just look for major oil leaks and other fluid and any unusual wear and tear. Just a little FYI, thanks.
