I was going to put my tail lights back in today but found the clean up on them would take longer then expected. with that comes my next question. Once I removed the lenses from the housings I found that when "bubba" painted it yellow he removed the lens and painted over bulbs and all! So I had to clean the yellow paint off the housings. To do this I soaked them in Naked Gun Spray cleaner. It removes everything. I saw that under the yellow paint there was a layer of black then a layer of white before the bare metal. My question is does anyone know which is correct? Maybe from the factory they used white as the primer then black for the reflector paint. I plan on painting them tonight so I guess I will take a look at the 74 and see if that will tell me anything. I just wonder if I will ever get away from the yellow paint that was on there. Every time I pick something up there seems to be some yellow there! Lots to clean!

Hey Rodney I took the RR out of mine and there is no paint at all in there..just metal and a bulb and socket..

The interior of the housing should be white...and how the heck did you get the lenses off????

i took the 3 screws out as well and the lens separated from the housing. However on my 74 it looks like its all one piece. and the lens appears to unbolt from under the back bumper so I didnt even try yo check that one out. But I put the white paint on the 72 housings and tomorrow hopefully i will put the rear lens back on. i also would like to remove the gas tank tomorrow but I have to make a trip to quakertown and hopefully pick up a 350 block to start my engine build.
I did get to put on 2 coats of Zaino today and I also put the side markers in. Thats progress moving forward! But slow.

I am buying a 350 block from the mid 70's. Havent made a definite decision yet but am leaning towards the stroker. I talked to Joel last night and he is going to get me more information this week. We are going to talk again on Wednesday night. Total costs will play a big part in decision as I can always rebuild the original 350 thats in it now. But i like the torgue a stroker develops. I ask him to piece together what it would take to get 400 HP. Dont know where I got that number from but it flow off my tongue pretty easy when talking about it. Its way more than I need. I just want to start buying parts awhile so it dont hit all at once. The thing that bothers me is that I dont know what other intake I can use other then the edelbrock performer to fit under the hood and I want to use the original hood.

Well a question I have is will the 200 hold up to a high torque motor..was it built to hold it? 400 horse won't be that hard to get stroked out..summit has kits from bottom to top..done..

Really? Musta been an impostor!
Didn't talk to me...at least not that I remember!
I guess this is NOT the '74, then, eh?
The '74 taillights are one-piece. I was confused as to which car you were working on...DOH!

I am so sorry to use the name Joel like that. I was referring to my engine builder Joel Barnett from Barnett Automotive. He has built motors for me since I was 18 which is a longggg time ago. I never thought about confusing or misleading anyone. However I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions and what internal parts you would use to gain 400HP in a stroker that is very driveable, however I should probably start a new thread for stroker HP.
Thanks
