I will be purchasing a new hood for the `69. L-88. Although my paint job is 15 years old or better it still shines. There are some blemishes and some cracking along the front fender seams. I`m at least i year away from a total paint resto and just wondering if i should have the hood sprayed to match the existing paint or just leave it in prime. The car will be completely stripped when the time comes to paint. what do you guys and gals think?

Well, I got my new hood last Oct, and have been driving it since then (well, not during the snow months!) with no paint. I decided to wait until I have the entire car painted, maybe this winter. If people ask I just tell them it's a work in progress and they understand. People love the car no matter what, and really get into hearing what I've done and what I'm going to do.
Actually, some people think it looks cool, having a blue car with a white hood. (It will get painted blue eventually.)
So, it's really not a big deal and it's totally up to you.
!`M IN THE MODE OF MECHANICS FIRST AND THEN COSMETICS. THERE ARE A FEW MECHANICAL THINGS TO DO YET.OBVIOUSLY GETTING THE HOOD CLOSED IS ONE OF THEM. I APPRECIATTE THE INPUT. SO NONE OF YOU WILL GIVE ME A HARD TIME WHEN I SHOW UP AT THE NCM WITH AN UNPAINTED HOOD ... RIGHT!
