I have a guy lined up to put on the new convertible top.
Question, I am to rermove the old one and leave a bare frame. Since some of you must have done this before, where do I start & stop? I don't want to start ripping & tearing and screw it up!
Thanks.

if it will save you money take it off.. if not leave it on..
i would highly recommend a new fastener set (screw set)

Before you have the new top installed the time to adjust the top is before the material is installed with only the frame work and weather strips installed-no pads or vinyl-the top is adjusted to fit the windshield header, deck lid,and door glass, may times the door glass is out of adjustment and has to be dialed. After all the adjstments are made, bring the car to the shop to have the material installed, most trim shops don't do these adjustments.....Latest Corvette Fever
The shop I went to did both the removal of the old top and the install of the new one. I had thought about doing the job myself (bought an Al Knoch top kit) but after doing some research on what all was involved felt it would be money well spent to have it done by a pro. Best $350 I've spent so far...!!!
"This is done by removing the door panels
and tweaking the various
adjustments of the window tracks and upper and lower window stops, door glass can be adjusted quite a bit, including height and angle to compensate for gaps".....Corvette Fever.
Check your shop manual for your year and model, should tell ya.

FOLLOW THE ORDER!!!! I tried just tweaking it and it got REALLY BAD!! Had to get out a Haynes? or a Chiltons and look up the proper order. I could only get it close, not "right." Neither window will close all the way with the doors closed, and drivers side never does.

Don't give up. Keep tweaking. As you make minor changes you can see what happens. They can be a pain, but once you figure it out they are not too bad. You can do it.
